Our Team

Pat Kauba (Charlie Baba)

Nursery Expert

Charlie Baba has been working with fruit trees and nursery production for over 12 years–in Nepal. As well as regular research and training programs abroad. His specialty is in all thing fruit tree related, across the middle hills, upwards. His farms and nurseries can be found in Kavre, Sankhuwasabha, Taplejung and now his experiences come to Ilam, too–with his trees having being planted between Jumla and Kanchenjunga. His passions are focused on turning lands into productive and valuable spaces, while helping communities to be independent and resilient. Om Namah Shivaya.

Nima Sherpa

Nima Tenzing Sherpa

Coffee Producer, Processor & Exporter

Mr. Nima Tenzing Sherpa is a certified Arabica Q Grader, AST (Authorized Specialty Coffee Trainer), and CQI Coffee Processing Professional. A coffee producer since 2008, he has been a member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America since 2010 and has exported organic specialty coffees to the US and Europe since 2013. Passionate about promoting Nepalese single-origin coffee, he trains farmers across Nepal in specialty coffee production and processing. He has experience working effectively within local communities, with social entrepreneurs, donor organizations, and government officials.

Zachary Barton

Designer, Grower

Zachary is a permaculture designer, activist and teacher who has been living in Nepal since 2003. In 2005, he founded the Kamala Foundation—an organization committed to bringing the principles of permaculture to life and providing community-based programming to cultivate resilience and revitalize traditional and ecological ways of being. He established Almost Heaven Farm in 2013, where he researches, demonstrates and trains local farmers and international visitors in permaculture design, earth-based building and ecological restoration. Specializing in soil health and plant nutrition, Zachary has worked in communities across East Nepal passionately helping develop the most healthy soils possible and in return the most nutrient dense and tasty foods for local consumption.

Khagendra Ghimire

Farm Manager

Khagendra Ghimire oversees all agricultural operations at Nature Coffee Ilam, ensuring high-quality coffee cultivation from seed to harvest. He leads farm planning, field supervision, workforce coordination, and sustainable farming practices to maintain the consistent quality and traceability of our coffee.
